The following text is from the original listed building designation:
TR 04 SE & TR 03 NE MERSHAM THE STREET (east side)
4&7/158 Garden walls to west and north- west of Newhouse
GV II
Wall. Early C18, mid C18 and C19. Red brick in English bond on ragstone base, extended with ragstone and with Flemish bond red brick. North west section about 8 feet high, with projecting ragstone plinth and coping, running some 30 metres along road, returned 30 metres, to east and again to south. Extended to south along roadside by Flemish bond brick wall to coach house gates, this section adjoined to Newhouse by 2 C19 ragstone walls some 3 feet high, and forming a garden terrace. Gate piers, about 10 feet high, and short quadrant walls, at southern end of roadside length.
