Findspot record TQ 75 SW 18 - Gallo-Belgic gold stater found in Teston
Summary
Maidstone Museum has a Gallo-Belgic E Morinic stater on permanent loan. It was presented to the Museum by Captain W A Cable from a collection started in the late 19th century by his brother Mr J Cable. The uniface gold coin was found by a Mr Chapman, a ploughman employed on Court Lodge Farm by the Cable family.
The exact location of the find is unknown, one theory being that the ploughman found it near his cottage. The sister of Captain Cable, Mrs Bond, thought the find site was more likely to be the Roman Villa site. See TQ 65 SE 19
There are no further details of provenance, date of find or circumstances.
