The following text is from the original listed building designation:
TQ 93 SE WAREHORNE CHURCH ROAD (south side) 5/158 Two headstones to Down family about 20 metres south-west of church of St. Matthew GV II Two headstones. Mid Cl8. Freestone. Benjamin Down and Daniel Down. Both about 2½ feet high, with varying 'copperplate' scripts to inscriptions, and with rocaille heads with hourglass, winged cherub and trophies with scrolled shoulders to Benjamin's headstone, and open book, cherub and hourglass to Daniel's.
