The following text is from the original listed building designation:
1. 5344 MAIDSTONE ROAD (North-West Side) No 1 (Barrowhill House) TR 04 SW 3/87
II
2. Of early C19 appearance, possibly concealing an earlier cove as the clustered chimney stack on the right hand side seems to indicate. 2 parallel ranges. 3 storeys stuccoed. Tile-hung rear elevation. Tiled roof and parapet. 2 tripartite sashes with glazing bars missing. Doorcase with pilasters and pediment.

In 2020, the remains of a boundary wall associated with Barrowhill House was recorded above and below ground during a watching brief. The wall is visible on both 1871 and 1952 OS maps, but was probably demolished or reduced during or after the building of the veterinary hospital next door. (2)
