Description from record TQ 83 SE 3:
[TQ 8835 3337] Ch. (NAT) (1) The Church of St. Mildred, Tenterden, has a 15th c. west tower. The arcades of the nave and aisles are 13th c. on the south and 14th c. on the north. (2) In normal use. (3) 1715 HIGH STREET (North Side) Parish Church of St Mildred TQ 8833 1/36 8.5.50. A GV 2. C14 to C15. The exterior is of stone rubble with a crenellated tower of Bethersden marble, dated 1467 with 4 crockets. South porch. The interior has a 5 bay nave and north and south aisled. C19 wooden barrow vaulted ceiling. The stone chancel arch has 2 blocked-in lancets. C19 carved chancel screen. Piscina and sedilia. Early C17 Whitfield monuments. All the listed buildings on the N side from nos 10-44 inc Church of St Mildred form a group. (4) St Mildred, Tenterden. The grey west tower, c.1449-1495, is the finest of any parish church in Kent. It is of four tall stages, with deep angle buttresses going up almost to the top, octagonal corner turrets, and bold crocketed pinnacles. The chancel basically 13th century, Decorated north chapel, the aisled nave 14th century. Restoration c.1864-6 by G.M. Hills or Christian. Full architectural description.
