Monument record TQ 76 NE 13 - Romano-British cremation burial group, Burnt Oak, Gillingham

Summary

A large 1st century Romano-British cinerary urn of Upchurch ware, found during road widening operations in 1927 at the corner of Roseberry Road and Pier Road. Also seen in Gillingham Museum. A number of similar finds were reported from this area in the late 19th century; it is thus thought to have been the site of a Romano-British cremation cemetery.
