Full Description

A gold armilla was dug up in 1872 in Chatham lines, between the Sally Port and the Brompton Barrier. Now in the British Museum, ref: 1873,0212.1. (1-3) No further information. (4), (5)

A Gold armilla, or decorative band, was found in c.1872. It was c.30cm long, and was decorated with deep spiral cuts, possibly broken from a double coil. It is stored in the British Museum. Gold armillae found 1872, 12.5'' long, decorated with deep spiral cuts, possibly broken from double coil. Held in British Museum ( LMARG record extracts, pers comm.-KCC, 8/10/92).
