Description from record TQ 94 NW 5:
[TQ 9266 4534] St. Nicholas's Church [TU] (1). The chancel, nave and tower of St. Nicholas's Church are 14th century; the south or Deving Chapel, the south aisle and the porch 15th century. It has a kingpost roof to the nave. (2) St. Nicholas's Church, is in regular use for divine worship. (3) 5272 PLUCKLEY THE STREET (north-east side) Church of St Nicholas TQ 9245 27/1 14.2.67. I GV 2. Chancel, south chapel, nave with south aisle, south Parvis porch and west tower with broached shingled spire. The chancel, nave and tower are C14; the south or Dering chapel, the south aisle and porch C15. Crown post roof to the nave with 5 crown posts and 2 tiny round windows above the easternmost crown post. Piscina. Double sedilia. Box pews. The churchyard contains C18 chest tombs, early C18 headstones with crude skull and cross bones incised, C18 and early C19 headstones with cherubs, heavenly crown, hourglass sunray or reaper with sickle motifs, some early C19 headstones with cast iron cherubs and oval bodystones. (4) St. Nicholas, The extent of the 13th century church can be defined by traces of lancets in the chancel and by the west tower. (5)
