The following text is from the original listed building designation:
TR 04 SE SMEETH THE RIDGEWAY (south side) 1/133 Nos. 1, 2 and 3 Ridgeway Cottages GV II Cottage row. C18. Painted brick and ragstone with plain tiled roof. Two storeys on large plinth with hipped roof and stacks to end left, to centre and at end right. Five wooden casements on 1st floor and 4 on ground floor. Three boarded doors. Catslide outshot to rear.

Used as Village Poorhouse until 1834 - shown on Kent Archaeological Society Tithe listing for Smeeth as Poorhouse with list of occupants.
