The following text is from the original listed building designation:
1. 5272 CHARING HIGH STREET (east side) Wheler House TQ 9549 22/13 14.2.67 II GV 2. C18. Two storeys and attics red brick. Tiled roof with brick eaves cornice and 2 gabled dormers. Three sashes with glazing bars intact to first floor. Ground floor has 2 small 3-light canted bays. Doorway, at the head of 4 steps with iron handrail, having a flat hood over the door of 6 fielded panels.
