Full Description

The following text is from the original listed building designation:
TR 03 SE ALDINGTON GIGGERS GREEN ROAD (south side) 7/37 Goldenhurst Manor 27.11.57 (formerly listed as part of Goldenhurst Farmhouse) GV II House. C17 or earlier, clad C18, extended 1927-30. Timber framed and clad with painted ragstone and tile hung, with plain tiled roof. Two storeys and hipped roof with gablets and stack to end right. Two wooden casements on each floor. Rear with 1930's bow window and 2 storey hipped wing of red brick in English bond. Single storey extensions to north end of house, of painted brick and plain tiled roofs, with moulded stack, that to west of main range with present entry (boarded door with flat hood). Main block dated 1707 on down- pipes, initialed T.G.M. The extensions and refurbishment were largely done for Noel Coward, who joined the farmhouse, cottage and barns on this site into a single dwelling, now again divided into 2 (see also, Goldenhurst, the Old House). Coward lived here 1926-1956, most building work was done 1927-30; his main residence out of London and Switzerland. (See Present Indicative, N. Coward, 1937). 'Cavalcade' was written here 1931.
