Full Description

The following text is from the original listed building designation:
TR 03 NE ALDINGTON CALLEYWELL LANE (east side) 4/4 The Old Cottage 14.4.1986 GV II House. C16 or earlier. Timber framed and exposed with painted brick infill, underbuilt with painted ragstone and clad and extended with painted brick. Plain tiled roof. Four and a half framed bays. Two storeys on plinth with hipped roof and gablets and stack cluster to centre left. Two tri- partite wooden casements and single casement to centre left on each floor. Iron rod ties to left. Entry by panelled door to left return in late C20 single storey extension. Catslide outshot to rear. Interior: inglenook fireplace, massive main beams. Either a hall house or continuous jettied house in origin (with cross-passage, later lobby entry).
