Listed Building record TQ 55 NE 7 - Church of St Mary, Kemsing

Summary

Kemsing was one of the early minsters founded in Kent before 700. Church, Early Norman (possibly Late Saxon). Nave of early Norman or Late Saxon period. Flint rubble walls with ashlar quoins and dressings. Tiled roof. Chancel similar. North aisle and chancel aisle of close-set flints, added in 1890-91 by Sir J G Jackson. 14th century timber south porch. Timber bell tower, possibly 16th century, rises through nave at west end and terminates in shingled spire.
