TR 03 NE SMEETH HYTHE ROAD (north side) 4/123 Smeeth Hill House GV II House. C16 and early C20. Red brick and yellow stocks on ragstone with plain tiled roof, with red brick and rendered rear wing. Two parallel ranges. Entrance front (early C20) of 2 storeys with hipped roof and triple, rendered stack sets to left and to right. Irregular fenestration of 2 glazing bar sashes, round headed stair light and oriel on 1st floor, and large mullioned and transomed window with plank and stud door to left in four centred arched doorway in gabled porch. Projecting wing to right in late Cl9 vernacular revival style, 2 storeys, brick with rendered upper floor and hipped tiled roof, with large mullioned and transomed windows on both floors. Left return of main elevation with parapet to return hipped roof, with 2 hipped dormers.2 paired sashes on 1st floor and French windows on ground floor. Rear elevation of red brick to hipped roof with gablets, with 5 glazing bar sashes on 1st floor and 2 bays on ground floor. The C16 building was orientated to this elevation; the triple stacks are reported to be moulded below the line of the e.C20 entrance front. The home of the Bedingfield family, intermarried with the Scotts of Scotts's Hall, both of whose Arms feature in panelling etc. in Smeeth Church.
