Monument record TQ 76 NW 26 - Roman pavement, near Bridge Reach, Frindsbury, Rochester

Summary

Possible trace of Roman road or 'pavements' found during excavations in 1819 for the Thames and Medway Canal at Frindsbury. Skeletal material and well presered oak trees were also found in association with this. A reference to a "Roman High-way" formed of flints, embedded in chalk and leading to Frindsbury Church, is seen as a further reference to the same discovery.
