Full Description
A small round 10thc. silver brooch with the inscription "AELFGIVVMEAH" was, according to the British Museum Accessions Register, found at Cuxton in 1830 and purchased by the museum in 1833. There is some doubt about the provenance and find date. Westwood(2) gives `Chatham C.1814': other aurhorities `Cuxton C.1814'. In the absence of firmer information Wilson prefers to accept the B.M. register. [see AO/59/82/5]. (1-4)
