The following text is from the original listed building designation:
1.   PLUCKLEY       SMARDEN ROAD 5272                                                      Bow Cottage TQ 94 SW 14/155 II 2. This adjoins the oasthouse adjoining Bakers Mead (qv) and was originally an oasthouse of the farm.  C18. One-and-a-half storeyed weatherboarded outbuildings, painted in alternate stripes of black and white.  Half-hipped tiled roof with 2 dormers. Arched doorcase, Oast with cowl and fantail intact.
