The following text is from the original listed building designation:
1. 5272 BETHERSDEN THE STREET (north side) Box Cottage and Rose Cottage TQ 9240 21/5 14.2.67 II GV 2. An L-shaped late mediaeval timber-framed building, refronted with red brick on the ground floor and hung with curved tiles above, the ground floor built out with a modillion cornice and sloping roof above it. Hipped tiled roof. Two storeys. Three casement windows. The east front is weatherboarded.
