The following text is from the original listed building designation:
1. 1715 HIGH STREET (South Side)
Nos 1 & 1A TQ 8833 1/1

2. Dated 1761. An C18 house with a modern 1 storey shopfront extension incorporating the original doorcase. 2 storeys and attic red brick with grey headers. Tiled roof with 3 hipped dormers. Cornice and parapet. 5 sashes with glazing bars intact on the 1st floor. There were 2 bay windows on the ground floor, but 2 shops have been built out in front of them, and in the centre has been placed the old doorcase with Tuscan columns, triglyph and paterae frieze, and a pediment with a coat of arms in the tympanum.
