The following text is from the original listed building designation:

Watergate House and Watergate Cottage TR 1859 27/226 30.1.67.

2. Originally the Manor House, later the Rectory. C18 exterior with C19 alterations, but the interior is older with 2 bays of C16 and a mid C17 addition, and contains a C15 stone fireplace. Two storeys and attics. Red brick, the south front refaced in cement in the C19 with rusticated quoins. A gable with one window with tumbled brickwork has a parapet to the east. Four window to the first floor above three with segmental heads to the ground floor, hung sashes with glazing bars. Moulded surrounds to attic and first floor windows. Doorway with plain pilasters and glazed door. Tiled roof. Two windows to the east and two gables with attic windows. The west wing is Watergate Cottage with hipped tile roof. Two storeys. One small casment window wnd one of three lights with hung sashes with glazing bars above a small window and a door. Another door and a carriage door. Remains of early C17 "antique work" mural in the oldest part of the building.
