The following text is from the original listed building designation:
ARGYLE ROAD 1. 5273 Gas lantern and Column opposite No 2 TR 1066 SE 2/256 II 2. Mid C19 gas lantern. Cast iron octagonal fluted column surmounted by 4 ogee curved braces supporting a square type lantern having a smaller base than top. Sloping roof terminating in anthemion foliage at the 4 corners, 2 bell vents and finial.
