2. Oxenden House has its main entrance in Oxenden Square.  Mid C19,  4 storeys stuccoed. Hipped slate roof.  Pilasters from ground through to 2nd floor level.  5 sashes on the 3rd floor with verticals only and 3 sashes to the other floors.  1st floor cast iron verandah and tent-shaped canopy.  Simple doorcases. Similar elevation - to Oxenden Street Hamilton House and Beaufort House have a double Doric porch.
Montague House forms a group with Hamilton House, Beaufort House and Oxenden House

Description from record TR 16 NE 1290:
By mid June, and continuing until at least November, 1941, the 4 Dorset Battalion of the 130 Infantry Brigade had their headquarters at Oxenden House, Herne Bay (Military Grid Reference R 613862).  Immediate post-war aerial photographs suggest vaguely military activity in the grassy square to the south.
