A historic building appraisal of the property suggests that it dates from the early-mid 17th century. The footprint of the structure measures 6.5x10.6m. The building lacks a basement which is unusual in buildings of this period; this is suggested to be a result of it's proximity to the river. The timber frame is only visible in a few areas of the internal structure, as lath, plaster, and daub obscure it. The brick chimney is an original feature of the structure, dating from the early-mid 17th century. The chimney is associated with a bottle-jack (a device used to turn a spit in front of a fireplace), which has led to interpretations that the chimney was originally associated with a kitchen. Several cupboard doors within the property are also though to date from the original construction of the house. These are comprised of plank-and-ledge doors with shadow mouldings situated against the chimney.
The property was refurbished during the 18th century, with alterations to the house including an open well staircase, a dormer window in the south-west slope of the roof, the creation of an entrance hall and rear corridor, new fittings and fixtures, and the replacement of the 17th century framing of the SW wall with brick to prevent the spread of fire. The house's existing windows are thought to date from the late 18th/19th centuries. Two outbuildings are present at the site, one dating from the 19th century, the other from the 20th century. (5)
