Summary

Several vessels of Roman pottery, eighteen coins and other objects were discovered during excavations in 1912. Other objects were found from later periods, ranging from the sixteenth century to the nineteenth. They inluded posset pots, pipkins, portions of glass rummers and glass wine and spirit flagons.

Full Description

[TQ 73 68 Sited to locality only] In 1912, during the extension of Messrs Charles Leonard & Son's premises in the High Street, the rear garden was excavated. From the Roman levels, several vessels of pottery, eighteen coins and other objects were obtained, and articles of later periods, ranging from the sixteenth century to the nineteenth including posset pots, pipkins, portions of glass rummers and glass wine and spirit flagons.
