2. C17 altered in C19. These originally comprised 7 cottages. The north-westernmost cottage Godden House with the former shop attached is a timber-framed building restored in the C19, the ground floor faced with red brick, the first floor tile-hung and oversailing on a bressumer. The cottage portion has sprocket eaves and the shop portion a small gable with scalloped bargeboards. Tiled roof. L-range to rear with C17 chimneyystack. The next cottage, No 1 in the south-west front is dated 1699 with the initials E S W. Two storeys red brick. Its north-west half has a tiled roof and 2 hipped dormers and its south-east half a stringcourse and a slate roof. Gabled weatherporoh with wooden twisted columns. The other cottages form the return front facing south-east. Two storeys red brick. Slate roof. Seven casement windows facing south, 4 casement windows facing south-east. These cottages belonged to the Bifrons estate.
