Summary
A Saxon and a Norman Mint were previously located in Rochester. The first coins from Rochester date from the 7th century and by 928 it was the fourth largest mint in England. Production became very irregular after conquest and the first Norman coins date from around 1068. Rochester produced the first issue of Henry I and production continued until after 1158, making it one of just two in Kent alongside Canterbury.
