Description from record TR 16 NE 1261:
‘Y’ Company of the 8 Royal Fusiliers arrived at Broomfield House in mid May 1940 and set up their headquarters. They probably dug slit trenches in the grounds on arrival. They left the house in November when the 8 fusiliers moved out of the district, and nothing else is yet known of its wartime use.
