Description from record TR 15 NW 407:
Nos 49 and 50 St Peter's Street [TR 14715798 sited from OS 1/1250 1974]. Grade II. 16th century timber-framed houses refronted in the 18th century. (1) No 49 St Peter's Street. Two bay 16th century timber-framed house. No 50 St Peter's Street. Timber-framed building, 16th century or earlier. (2)
The Canterbury UAD mentions that no. 49 St Peter's Street was formerly an inn called The King's Arms.
This inn was mentioned in the 1692 licensing list called THE THREE KINGS. It was described in 1730 as "with good stables and nine pin yard"
Licensing lists and directories name the following as innkeepers;
1795 Robert Rouse
1815 Sarah Rouse (widow)
1882-88 Hanry Major
The inn closed in 1935. (3)

Nos 49 and 50 TR 1457 NE 4/78 3.5.67.

2. C16 timber-framed houses refronted in C18. 3 storeys, mainly painted brick but with some pebble dash. No 50 has a gable front. Renovated tiled roof. Part moulded bressumer with vine motif and carved console brackets. 1 window to each with 1st floor bays and modern shop fronts. No 49 has a side elevation which is part tile-hung.
Nos 49 to 60 (consec), Methodist Church and forecourt to Methodist Church form a group.
