Description from record TR 15 NE 213:
Nos 41 to 45 (consec) Palace Street [TR 15015806 sited from OS 1/1250 1971]. Grade II. The Gatehouse of the Archbishop's Palace. A medieval building restored in the 20th century. (1) Nos 41, 42 and 43 Palace Street. 16th century brick building with 20th century rebuild. No 44 Palace Street. 16th century and earlier structure of stone and brick. Rebuilt in 20th century. No 45 Palace Street. Timber frame and stone. 17th and 19th century. (2)

2. These buildings were the Gatehouse of the Archbishop's Palace. A Mediaeval building restored in C20. 3 storeys faced with flints. Tiled roof. Nos 41-43 have 5 windows in red brick surrounds with brick mullions. In the centre of the ground floor is a painted stone archway. No 44 is of 2 storeys and has 3 mullioned windows in brick surrounds. No 45 is now plastered. 2 storeys, altered in C18. 1 sash. Early C19 shopfront with pilasters.
Nos 29 to 48 (consec) form a group.
