Full Description
Area TQ 76706283 Two L.B.A. gold bracelets at present held by the British Museum were found by Mr. Richard Bryant of 64 Haigh Avenue, Chatham, on August 3rd, 1965, whilst digging a drainage trench on a housing estate at Dargett's Wood, Waldersdale, Chatham. The find spot was indicated by Bryant. (See Illustrations Card.) One bracelet has trumpet-shaped terminals and is plain; the other has blunted, wedge-shaped terminals and is decorated with a band of 12 incised circles enclosed within a strap, with two rows of small circles above each terminal. The bracelets were found together in a lump of clay at about two feet deep in undisturbed clay-with-flints. A search of the immediate vicinity by Mr David Kelly(b) produced no traces of occupation and he concluded that the bracelets had been deliberately buried for concealment. (1-2)
