The following text is from the original listed building designation:
1. 944 WATLING STREET (South West Side)
No 26 (Latchmere House) TR 1457 NE 4/222A 3.5.67.

2. Built in 1620 but refronted in early C19. 3 storeys stuccoed with a rusticated base. Parapet. 5 sashes set in moulded architraved with stone cills and glazing bars intact. 2 stringcourses, 1st floor has later balconettes. Round-headed doorcases with 6 fielded panelled doors. 2 footscrapers. Plinth. Right side doorcase has glazing bars intact. The interior is timber-framed and has traces of C17 painted floral and scroll decorations with the initials Q M W and M W in a cupboard on the 1st floor. This floor has a room having an early C19 bow and a moulded cornice with floral decoration. There is an early Cl9 nantelpieae with dentils, fluted pilasters and heads of Alexander the Great set in a marble surround and a fine early C19 cast iron firegrate. Panelled doors. The cellar has some reused Roman bricks and Mediaeval masonry.
Nos 24 to 27 (consec) form a group.
