Full Description
A 6thc. Byzantine 'brass' was recently dug up at "Lowarai", a property near Kit's Coty House, by the owner, Mr. C.A. Bodiam, who retains it. It appears to have been burnt but the finder is sure that there was no clinker or indication of any burning operation at the find spot. The coin is of Justin II, A.D., 568-78, minted at Nicomedia and marked 572/3. (1) "My husband died four years ago, and I cannot now tell you exactly where he picked up the coin, but it was probably at the bottom of the garden. My son forwarded the coin to Maidstone Museum." (2) TQ 74576130. Find sited to "Lowerai." (3)
