2. Early C18 house, thought to have been built by John Maximilien de L'Angle, a Huguenot refugee who was Rector of Chartham between 1696 and 1724 and also a Canon of Canterbury Cathedral. Three storeys red brick. Slate roof having shaped gable ends with brick chimney breasts beneath them. Moulded wooden eaves cornice. Brick stringcourse above first floor. Four sashes with glazing bars intact. In the centre of the second floor is a round-headed niche containing a half-length stone statue of Charles II which originally stood on a pedestal in the garden. Two early C19 stuccoed doorways with pilasters and projecting cornices over.
