Summary
A palstave, or metal chisel-edged implement, was found in Eccles by means of a metal detector.The find spot was on the west bank of the River Medway on the Lower Cut, due west of St Mark's Church, Eccles. The palstave is 6ins in length and 2.5ins wide, weighing approximately 15 ounces. It has some pitting and is of a deep green patination. It is bow flanged with the blade splayed into a wide cutting edge.
