2. Built in 1871 by George Devey for Col Dyson in the C17 Dutch style. A small country house, roughly square in shape with an office wing to the west. The north front of the house is of 2 storeys and attics red brick. Slate roof and massive brick chimneystacks. Three curved gables, the centre one recessed and surmounted by a curved pediment, the outer ones with triangular pediments. One segmental casement with keystone to each gable on the attic floor. The first floor has 2 segmental mullioned and transomed casements with roundels between to each of the outer gables and Venetian style 3 light mullioned and transomed window flanked by pilasters to the centre. The ground floor has two 3-light canted bays with balustrading above and central projecting stone porch having 3 segmental arches flanked by plain Ionic pilasters and balustrading above having stone ball finials. The south elevation of the house is very similar but 5 light bays run through ground and first floors of the 2 side gables and the central portion on the ground floor has round-headed windows set in arcading. The west side of the house has a wing of irregular shape of 1, 2 or 4 storeys in matching style. This incorporates 3 different kinds of gables and a 4-storey square brick tower. Stone balustraded parapet to the south elevation. Interior contains Adam chimney pieces from Old Denne Hill.
