No 57 Broad Street, St Crispin's [TR 15225812 - sited from OS 1/1250 1971]. Grade II. A timber-framed building, greatly restored. (1) Medieval timber-framed building. (2)

Imported from the Canterbury UAD.
The Marquis of Lorne and The Exeter were 'adjoined' in 1888. Both were inn names of the same building on 57 Broad Street.

The marquis of Lorne innkeeper 1882 was James Ditton, the life span of this inn was very short.

In 1885 The Exeter was leased to Rigden Brwers, for 14 years at £21 per year.
Innkeepers were;
1888 James Holmens.
1895 WH Holmens.

The Exeter closed in 1938. Now residential. (3)

2. A timber-framed building, greatly restored. 2 storeys colour washed. Tiled roof. 2 sashes with glazing bars intact. Traces of overhang. The ground floor has been entirely restored with a continuous window. 2 modern doorcases.
