Full Description

The Canterbury UAD states that little is known about this Public House. Though it is listed as the Dukes Head St. Pauls in Pigot's Directory for 1828-29 with William White as licensee.
An inn is shown at 4 Church Lane on the 1st edition O. S. map of 1874. A Directory for 1888 lists Joseph Weller as Licensee.
Kelly's Directory for 1931 lists The Dukes Head Public House at 4 Church Street, with Frederick T Moon as proprieter. The Dukes Head is still listed in Kelly's Directory of 1967 at the same address. However sometime after 1967 the Dukes Head closed down and is now (2002) a restaurant. The old building remains however. (3, 4, 5, 6)
