Full Description

The following text is from the original listed building designation:
BORSTAL HILL 1. 5273 (West Side) No 74 (The Stone House) TR 16 W 4/27 II 2. The subatance of this building is apparently early C19 but in the east wall is a 4-centred mediaeval stone arch with chamfered jambs giving the appearance of leading to a cellar. To the left of the arch are the remains of some ogee-heeded cusping with a a semi-circular recess beneath which was possibly a stoup. These remains may have been brought from elsewhere. Set in the wall beneath the arch is a stone with the date 1689. The building is a single storey house with 2 windows facing north and 2 windows facing east. Stone rabble with red brick window dressings and quoins. Half hipped slate roof. Glazing bard intact. Segmental headed window frames with round header windows within these the north side. Later trellised wooden gabled porch.
