Description from record TR 25 SW 166:
Elmstone Court, Out Elmstead, seems to have housed a succession of military units during the Second World War. Late in 1941 it is known to have housed 57 Anti-Tank Regiment of the Royal Artillery. In mid 1943 it was adopted as the headquarters for the Reception Area for troops concentrating locally. Understandably, given its location, the house is repeatedly referred to as ‘Elmstead Court’ in the military documents.
