Description from record TQ 57 SW 66:
[TQ 5385 7247] St. Michael's Church [T.U.] (2) The original parts of the building were Saxon in character. All that now remains of the early church is the west wall, and the base of the south and east walls. (3) The south aisle was built in 1881, and the chancel and side chapels in 1883 when two Saxon double-splayed windows were exposed at the end of the nave in the north and south walls. (4) This church, name confirmed, is still in use for public worship. It is mainly modern but two single splay lights are evident, one in the W. face of the tower, and the other in what was possibly the S. nave wall now an internal wall. (5) Checked and correct. A watching brief on extension work. No evidence of any archaeology before the post-medieval period. Some graves were disturbed and there is evidence that the graveyard continues under the road to the east and for previous minor structures existing in the graveyard.(12)
