Monument record TQ 77 NE 15 - Site of a Roman salt workings, parish boundary, Cooling and Cliffe

Summary

Site of a suspected Roman salt workings. Reddish alluvial soil with bricky crumbs and occasional sherds of coarse black pottery have been observed on the parish boundary. An area of salt panning overlying the chalk has also been observed below this.
