Summary
Evidence of salt panning found near the Nature Reserve at Northwood Hill in c.1980. The finds consisited of two saucer-shaped pans of baked clay, each 3m across and containing some heat shattered flint.

Full Description
[TQ 7771 7651] HIgh Halstow. Signs of salt panning in the alluvial clay along the north side of the Nature Reserve. (Mr M. L. Titt, agricultural engineer, reported finding at TQ 7795 7671 two saucer-shaped pans of baked clay, each 3m across at 0.3m below the surface, containing some heat shattered flint). (1)
