A Roman coin of Gallienus, was found in 1872 at the end of Wharf Lane in Cliffe, just north of Reed Street on the edge of the marsh. The present whereabouts of this coin are uncertain.

Full Description

[TQ 73967679] "A silver coin of Gallienus of about the size of a shilling was this day shewn to me by Mr. Knight, Builder, of Reed Street, Clyffe, as having been just found by a labourer at the end of Wharf Lane in Clyffe, on the edge of the marsh..." (a) (1) "A coin supposed by the inhabitants of Cliffe to be Roman was found just north of Reed Street, but his has been lost..." (2). No further information discovered regarding this coin (3).
