The following text is from the original listed building designation:

St Thomas' Hospital Almshouses [Nos I to 11 (consec)] TR 3258 1/79A

2. Founded in 1392 rebuilt in mid C19. These almshouses, set back from the roadway, are composed of a central block containing a fine Gothic window in 2 lights with 6-foil tracery circle, 2 lancets on ground floor. Between the centre block are 2 single ranges with 2 storey blocks either end. Gothic mid C19 all in random rubble and dressed quoins with slated roofs. Each gable has a heavy carved barge board.
St Thomas' Hospital Almshouses and Gateway form a group.
