The following text is from the original listed building designation:
DEAL GREAT MONGEHAM TR 35 SW 6/502 Gravestone/Cross immediately south-west of tower of Church of St Martin GV II Gravestone or churchyard cross. Probably Medieval. Small stone monolith with a short shaft and a circular head, the front of which has an engraved cross Pommee. If it was originally a churchyard cross, or wayside cross, the shaft must have been shortened.
