Summary

Two Iron Age Celtic coins found in 1985 in close proximity to each other. One of Tasciovanus, Head of the Catevellauni and father of Cunobelin, the other of Epillus of the Atrebates. A coin of this type was recently found at Boxley. Finds are in Maidstone Museum.

Full Description

Two AE Celtic coins, were found within one hundred yards of each other in 1985 by B.S. Ashby. TQ 743 763: (a) Tasciovanus, diameter (irregular) 14mm. Mack 173 (b) Epillus, diameter 15mm. Evans IV 5. A coin of this type was recently found at Boxley. Finds are in Maidstone Museum (1). Site photographs (2,3).
