The following text is from the original listed building designation:
MIDDLE STREET 1. l035 (East Side) No 14 (Stonar House) No 16 (Tuffnell House) TR 3752 NE 1/44 1.6.49. II GV 2. Originally one house. Dated 1780. 3 storeys and basement red brick. Parapet. Brick stringeourse above ground and 1st floors. Good doorcase in frame with fluted pilasters, consoles and pediment and moulded frieze in Adam manner with lions, urn, and sway motifs. 6 panel moulded door. 3 straps to street. Nos 2 to l6 (even) and Chevne Cottage form a group with No 9 South Street and Nos 1 and 2 Crown Court.
