Summary

Roman smaian pottery reportedly found at the Cliffe coast after the discovery of Roman cremation burials. The samian cups were found during subsequent investigations after the intial discovery of the cremations.

[TQ 70 77 - sited to locality only] Roman pottery found. (1)
Source also mentions Roman cremation burials at this location, found by P. Payne in 1981. Pottery included a flagon, a wide shallow bowl, a carinated jar and samian ware stamp. Finds were dated to c.45-120 AD.
This record relates to cups of Samian subsequently found at the site.
