Full Description

The following text is from the original listed building designation:
MIDDLE STREET 1. 1035 (West Side) No 13 (Queen Anne House) TR 3752 NE 1/50 1.6.49 II* GV 2. Early C18. 2 storeys and attic, red brick colour washed. Hipped tiled roof with cement covered shaped Dutch gables at south end. 2 dormers in front and 2 at the side. 5 sashes in reveals with wide sash bars the centre window on the 1st floor very narrow. Moulded brick stringcourse above ground floor. Doorcase has fluted pilasters and entablature, flush panelled reveals and a 6 flush panelled door, the top 2 panels cut away and glazed. Nos 5 to 13 (odd) form a group. Also No 13 forms a group with the outbuildings behind.

Description from record TR 35 SE 61:
[TR 378 527] Promenade Pier [NAT] (2) The original pier at Deal was built of cast iron and was breached and damaged beyond repair by the military in 1940-5. The present reinforced concrete pier was designed by W. Halcrew & Partners and built in 1954-7 by Concrete Piling Ltd to a length of 1026 feet( 312.7m). It is owned by the local authorities. (2) First pier built in 1838 and was 250' long. Demolished 1857. Second pier designed by Eugenius Birch and opened in 1864. After wartime damage it was pulled down in 1954. (3) 1035 MIDDLE STREET (West Side) No 13 (Queen Anne Hose) TR 3752 NE 1/50 1.6.49 II* GV (TR 37755258-O.S. 1:2500 1958) 2. Early C18. 2 storeys and attic, red brick colour washed.
