Full Description
An "oval scraper with a polished cutting edge" was found in 1871 on the slopes of a tumulus at Tyers Knoll, Ightham. Another mound close by yielded arrowheads and a scraper. [See TQ 55 NE 24] (1) Tyers Knoll is within an area of ground which has been dug for sand to a considerable depth. Enquiries of the Marley Tile Company, sandpit owners, were negative with regard to the site of the tumulus. Sir E. Harrison's Collection came to Maidstone Museum and is in store there, but it is not possible to distinguish individual finds. (2)
